What’s amazing about this life is how surreal it can be. Let me pause for a moment and explain this word surreal the way I want it to be understood. I in fact want it to interpreted and understood for what it actually means. Merriam Webster’s defines it as “marked by the intense irrational reality of a dream;” Further a dream can be defined as “a state of mind marked by abstraction or release from reality” . I therefore want state life can at times be marked by moments .. times where one feels as if they are released from reality. There is a strong sense of irrantionality to this reality. It moves as if you are not fully participating at times. At times we drift. If life can sometimes be surreal then it can some times be very real . It can be marked by a stark reality. A realization that we are indeed participating and only our perceptions are warped. We are guided during these times by the disassociation of our conscious and deliberate thoughts as we fall into the whims of the dream like state. All that happens to us in this state is as if we are in a dream where we go passively along.. not challenging any of the twists and turns of the dream’s plot. How then do we stay in reality. How then do we take control of the story… ? How do we break through some of the trances, because we can’t do it in all cases, of the surreal life ? There are thinkers among us who ponder the science of reality as it relates to thinking and altering reality. The message is clear.. “As a man thinketh in his heart.. I once thought dispassionately about drug addiction. I thought cocaine was those “other people’s” problem. The truth is there are many smiling faces around us all battling this concentrated demon. Like heroin those who stay allied to this drug have not to ask if.. but when it will catch up to them and those closest to them. This is the time in history when those wonderful creatures known as humans , while searching for the way to peace and balance either gain it all .. or end it all .
